Q?

Will a student retain their rank if they transfer in from another school?

A.

Applies to Age 7-14 Black Belt Training ONLY – Call for Junior Magnus and Adult.

First and foremost, this decision is always made according to the discretion of the Head Instructor. Master Pannulla does not guarantee that your child/student will retain their status at their current karate school. Non-beginners first need to be evaluated and accepted into our school before rank or status will be discussed.

Generally all students will re-start at white belt, but the amount of time that they spend at that rank depends entirely on them and how they adjust to the programs within our school. There is no set time that any student will re-acquire rank. This is always according to the discretion of the instructor.

If the student demonstrates content knowledge, and skill needed for a particular rank they will be placed appropriately according to the rank they are equal to at Magnus Karate.

Q?

What is the minimum age requirement to test for Black Belt?

A.

Minimum age requirement to test for Black Belt at Magnus Karate is 13 years old. We believe that Black Belt rank is a high honor, and significant achievement in every student’s life.

Students under the age of 13 can still qualify for Junior Black belt rank status with the Magnus Karate system. Upon reaching the age of 13 they will be rewarded first degree status.

Q?

Generally how long does it take to acquire black belt rank at Magnus Karate?

A.

This depends on the student’s rank, level of commitment they have to their program, constant growth and improvement, and minimum class requirements (found in student handbook/Black Belt handbook). Once a student enters into our black belt training program and trains at a minimum of two to three times per week they can achieve black belt in four to five years.

Q?

What is the length of time required for testing to a new rank?

A.

Magnus Karate: Testing for new rank is always at the discretion of the head instructor. Normal testing intervals at the Gup Ranks (under black belt) are usually three months if the student attends class at a normal rate of two times per week. If the student attends class once a week it can take at least six months to test for a new rank. If the student is unable to show personal knowledge and skill in materials required for the next rank, they will not test until they are able to do so.

Junior Magnus: In this program students are evaluated in a different manner. Generally Junior students are evaluated after class on the basic fundamental skills and technique that they are learning in class. This evaluation takes place approximately every six to eight classes and is completely at the discretion of the head instructor. Junior Magnus ranks act as a great reward system for our young students and an efficient benchmark for school instructors.

Q?

What is the female to male ratio like at Magnus?

A.

Female to male ratio at Magnus is very close to 1:1. There are usually an equal amount of girls and boys participating in all classes.

Q?

If my student misses a class, how do they make up the session?

A.

Junior Magnus:

All classes missed within the current month of your billing cycle must be made up within the month that you missed class.

Magnus Karate Age 7-12:

All classes missed within your child’s current test cycle (3 or 6 months) must be made up within the remaining time of the current test cycle.

  • White, Yellow, Orange, and Green Belt students must attend 24 classes within a test cycle.
  • Red Belt students must attend 48 classes within a test cycle.

Magnus Karate is happy to offer all students a no contract system with at least one class option at their level for every day that we are open for regular classes. Please take advantage of our Flex Schedule and attend classes at your convenience.

Q?

What is the “Flex Schedule” at Magnus Karate?

A.
